Growing your own clothes
How amazing? Using tea, sugar, yeast, bacteria a little time, Suzanne Lee, along with some biologists, grew material for her recent line of clothing, Biocouture. Check out more here. And read the Biocouture blog here.
I wish I had the resources to try something like this at home. How fun would it be to grow your own fabric?! Manipulating bacteria and this method is also being applied in all sorts of new ways, even to building furniture and building blocks for a home. It's also being used to aid sub-Saharan Africa reducing desertification (see video below).
